Ashland, Ky., native Julie Ditty has once again posted impressive results on the USTA Pro Circuit. Last week, the 26-year-old former Vanderbilt University standout gave the best performance of any American at the 2005 Sun Oaks Future Aces USTA Challenger held in Redding, Calif.

Ditty, a 5’ 6” left-hander, notched a 6-4, 7-6 (4) victory over British wild card Sarah Borwell in the opening round of the tournament. She then posted a come-from-behind upset win against No. 4 seed Saori Obata of Japan, 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (1), in round two, before falling to sixth-seed and eventual champion Lucie Safarova of the Czech Republic, 6-3, 7-6 (6), in the quarterfinals.

In addition to her performance in Redding, Ditty has posted other noteworthy results on the USTA Circuit during the first few months of 2005. The doubles prize money leader on the USTA Pro Circuit in 2004 when she won three titles, she has picked up where she left off last year, already equaling that number by taking home doubles championships in Tampa, Fla., Miami and Rockford, Ill., and raising her career total to 11.

Other highlights from 2005 include reaching consecutive singles semifinals at the first two $10,000 tournaments of the year in Miami and Tampa, advancing to the doubles semifinals at the $75,000 event in Midland, Mich., and reaching the doubles semifinals at the WTA Tour event in Acapulco, Mexico.

Currently ranked 264th in the world in singles and 131st in doubles, Ditty is scheduled to compete this week in both singles and doubles at the Taylor Infiniti $25K Women's Pro Circuit event in Augusta, Ga.
