The Ashland Tennis Patrons hosted a Recreational Coaching Workshop March 12, 2006 at the Ashland Tennis Center that was directed by USTA Master Coach Jeff Hawes from 9 AM to 4 PM. There were 21 participants including the three Ashland Tennis Center Pros Susan Ferguson, Don Webb, and Chris Meinfeltner as well Bellefonte Tennis Club Pros Todd Wise and Fernando Pavez. High School coaches from Greenup County, Rowan County, and East Carter attended and students from Rose Hill Christian Academy, Russell High School, East Carter, Rowan County, Greenup County were present. Amber Bouts the Head Instructor for the Ashland Tennis Patrons was present. These instucotors will be teaching in the free summer tennis programs for the summer.

The Ashland Tennis Patrons is a community tennis association (CTA) that was founded for the purpose of promoting local tennis for juniors and adults through the use of clinics, lessons, tournaments, and tennis social events.

The Ashland Tennis Patrons will encourage tennis fans to take part in one of the world's greatest athletic games: Tennis. Plans are underway to offer tennis exhibitions, tennis clinics, tournaments, and social events.

The first social event was a Sponsor and Volunteer Appreciation Party attended by seventy-seven people that was hosted by the Ashland Tennis Patrons and DKM Sports, at the home of Jack and Juanita Ditty in Ashland, Ky on Friday, May 20th, 2005. This party was to publicly thank the many hundreds of people that contributed to the success of the Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital Tennis Classic 2004. Tennis exhibitions on the downtown streets of Ashland were offerred in conjunction with Poage's Landing. Free tennis clinics were given by high school and adult volunteers directed by Amber Bouts. Amber is a senior college student who plays tennis for the University of Charleston. Eighty children in Ashland were taught free lessons at Central Park and the Ashland Tennis Center. High School players who want to volunteer may contact Jack Ditty MD at 606 836-3111 during the weekday. Free Tennis clinics are being planned for the Ashland Tennis Center, Central Park, Russell High School, Raceland High School and other sites. The members of the Board of Directors of the Ashland Tennis Center represent many diverse areas of the tri-state tennis community. Anyone can join the Ashland Tennis Patrons whether they are a tennis player, spectator, or tennis enthusiast.

Membership in the Ashland Tennis Patrons is $25.00 per year per person.
